A universal photo-etched set in 1:35 for the KV-1 and KV-2 covers both Soviet heavy tanks built on a common chassis. A metal refinement from the Royal Model workshop.
Responsibility details are not available.
This metal refinement covers both of the best-known Soviet heavy tanks of the early war. The parts correspond to the elements that are shared between the two machines or differ only in placement. They are fitted to a plastic kit, which the modeler chooses according to which of the two subjects they are building.
When German units ran into the KV-1 in 1941, they found that their anti-tank guns of the time were not enough for its armor. The KV-2 grew out of the same chassis, only instead of an ordinary turret it carried a tall angular structure with a howitzer of 152 mm caliber intended for demolishing fortifications. It was slow and tall and on a slope its turret could not be traversed, and yet it became one of the most memorable armored vehicles of its day and to this day is among the most sought-after subjects.
The most pronounced change comes from replacing thick plastic grab handles with metal ones. Cut the original moldings off and sand the surface smooth, otherwise the new handle will not seat. Pre-drill the holes for the feet with a micro drill, and the mounting then goes quickly and without slipping. It is precisely such small things that a jury and a display case visitor look at.
The set carries metal components only; do not look in it for the tank, paints or glue.
