An imitation of dry oak leaves for 1:35 scale. The individual leaves are laser cut, so the shape matches the real leaf blade, lobes included.
Responsibility details are not available.
Oak sheds its leaves late and the dry blades often stay on it until spring. For a scene from late autumn or early winter it is a rewarding material: a brown layer on the ground unifies the terrain, hides the transitions between materials and yet lets the tracks in a rutted road stand out.
The shape of each leaf is produced by cutting with a laser beam. The difference from stamping shows at the edge: the beam travels through the material along an exact path and manages even the deep notches between the lobes, whereas a die rounds curves like that off. The edge after cutting tends to be slightly darker, which does a dry leaf nothing but good.
A heat-worked edge is usually counted a flaw on modeling materials, but here it works for the result. A dry leaf always has a darker, curled rim, so slight darkening from the beam merges with what the viewer expects of fallen leaves. There is therefore no need to repaint the edges.
The material also suits a little heap of raked leaves against a wall or the crown of a tree, where it does, however, have to be glued on piece by piece. The quantity in the package is not stated here; count on it as an accessory for one scene of ordinary size.
