A fairly complete metal addition to a model of the American tank destroyer from the Italian firm Royal Model. The same type is made in two versions, hence the clarification: this set is cut for the Tamiya kit. It adds the thin plates, brackets, eyes and grilles that necessarily come out thicker in injection-molded plastic.
The designers took the chassis of the Sherman, lightened the armor, sloped its plates and put an open turret with a 3-inch gun on top. The result was a vehicle that could take up a position quickly, fire and withdraw, but it did not forgive a mistake: it was vulnerable from above and its sides gave it next to nothing. To balance the long barrel, the turret received prominent cast counterweights at the rear. In British service the machine later received the heavier 17-pounder gun.
An open turret means it will be seen into, so paint and shade the interior before you close it in with railings and steps. Glue the metal grab handles on at the very end, as they are easy to catch. Try the bent plates dry, as brass does not forgive repeated straightening.
The kit itself and the chemicals for the build are not part of the price.
