M4 Sherman HVSS T80, workable tracks of the steel type is an add-on track set in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. It is not a tank model but a replacement for the tracks on a kit that is already built.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of workable plastic tracks of the T80 type for the American medium tank M4 Sherman with HVSS suspension, in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. It is not a vehicle model but an add-on: the individual links join into a track that stays movable and can be shaped over the road wheels. The execution matches the steel type of track, that is the version without rubber pads.
Shermans received HVSS suspension, that is Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension, at the end of the war. Unlike the earlier VVSS it had paired road wheels and a wide track, which markedly lowered the ground pressure and improved the ride off road. The T80 track was among the wide tracks used precisely on vehicles with HVSS; the steel version did without rubber pads and therefore had a different surface on the contact face from the rubber-padded tracks.
Deburr the links carefully and sand the seam lines down before you start joining them. With workable tracks, take care that no glue gets into the joints, or you will lose the movement; glue only at the points indicated and with a thin cement. Assemble and paint the track separately from the hull, as the steel type comes out well with metallic highlights and rust, and fit it right at the end so that a natural sag can be shaped. Count the number of links you need from the instructions before you close the track up.
This is an add-on set, not a vehicle model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
