Compared with earlier issues, the tooling is supplemented with new rims and rubber tires. The finished model measures about 30 cm and represents the only injection-molded plastic rendering of this tanker on the market. The kit suits modelers interested in modern American military logistics.
HEMTT (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) is a line of heavy off-road trucks in US Army service since the middle of the 1980s. The M978 version carries a large fuel tank and a dispensing module; it serves to refuel tracked and wheeled vehicles and helicopters directly in the field. With 8x8 drive the vehicle copes with difficult terrain and proved itself in service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Assemble and fine-tune the chassis and the axles before you start putting the bodywork and the tank together. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement and fit the rubber tires only after painting. Apply a base coat of primer and spray the large surfaces with an airbrush; a single-color desert or green finish is typical. Dust, mud and wear on the running gear and the fenders come from pigments and washes.
