A detailing set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard (Obrnice near Most), one of the world's leading aftermarket makers. It is not a tank model but complete replacement tracks for models of the Israeli Merkava Mk.I / Mk.II tank in 1:35 scale. The tracks are 3D-printed and replace the ones from the basic kit.
The tracks from a kit tend to be either rubber-band type (one piece, hard to paint and they do not hold their shape) or individual links made up of dozens of parts (a laborious build). 3D-printed tracks offer the best of both: sharp detail, correct sag over the road wheels and assembly from one or a few parts. The track is a large, clearly visible area on a tank — good tracks therefore raise the realism of the whole model considerably without a long build.
The Merkava is the Israeli main battle tank, the first one fully developed and built in Israel; it entered service at the end of the 1970s and was first used in combat in 1982. It is famous for the emphasis on crew protection (the engine at the front) and for its characteristic silhouette. The running gear and tracks derive from the line of the British Centurion. The Mk.I and Mk.II are the early versions.
Separate the parts carefully from the print supports and clean them up. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Check the fit on the running gear of your particular kit before fitting them. For a faithful look, bring the tracks out with a dark wash and fine-tune the dust or mud with pigments.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The basic tank kit, glue, paints and pigments are not included in the package.
