Tread plate appears on fighting vehicles everywhere the crew walks on them. The 1:35 Metal anti - slip plate n.1 set offers it in the first of the patterns.
Responsibility details are not available.
Royal Model released this sheet as a universal material for builders of armored vehicles. It is not tied to a particular vehicle: you cut the shape you need out of it and glue it where the real subject had a non-skid finish.
The crew moves over the engine decks, the fenders and the upper surfaces of the hull during maintenance and in combat, in rain, in mud and on snow. To keep them from slipping, these surfaces get a rough finish: welded-on strips, patterned plate or a sprayed coating with an additive. On modern machines the non-skid finish often covers the whole walking area, while on Second World War vehicles it was more a matter of individual strips. On a model it is a detail that gives the surface texture and breaks up an otherwise dull smooth area.
First cut a template out of paper to the shape of the area and only then cut the metal. Make the cut with a fresh blade in a single stroke so that the edge does not buckle. Press the sheet down over its whole area and weight it until the joint has set. After painting the pattern comes out beautifully if the area is picked out with a dark shade and then lightly gone over with a dry brush.
The plate is supplied without a finish; paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
