This unusual resin scene from the Italian brand Royal Model leaves uniforms and combat vehicles behind and heads straight into the horror genre. The group of figures refers to the classic black-and-white film of the end of the 1960s that brought the subject of reanimated corpses into popular culture. What the modeler gets here is therefore not another variant of a soldier but a standalone scene with a story of its own, one that can be built without a single vehicle.
The picture shot in 1968 was made on a tiny budget and yet it changed the shape of horror for decades to come. Figures without explanation, without special powers and without hope of rescue became the model for countless later works. It is exactly the starkness the film became famous for that suits 1:35 scale better than one would expect: at this size a stance and a gesture are legible, whereas exaggerated detail would drop the scene into parody.
Build the skin of the reanimated figures on cool gray-green tones and avoid pronounced red, which usually cheapens the result. Leave the eyes matte, without a glossy highlight. The clothing, on the other hand, should be dirtied with warm brown shades, so that a contrast against the cold skin arises. The whole scene comes out best on a dark base with spot lighting from behind.
The scene arrives without paints; obtain putties and brushes according to your own habit.
