An old wooden wall in 1:35 scale for dioramas. It will serve as the weathered plank wall of a barn, a shed or a workshop.

A plank wall is the most rewarding background a scene can get. The vertical joints between the boards keep the view inside the diorama and weathered wood lends the scene age without overpowering the figures or the equipment in the foreground. This set offers an old wooden wall prepared in 1:35 scale.
In 1:35 scale an adult figure measures around five centimeters, and a barn door three meters high comes out at roughly eight and a half centimeters. Build the wall higher than the head of a standing figure, therefore, otherwise it will come across as a low fence on the finished scene. When you round the wall out with a floor of the same scale, you get a whole corner of a room or of a shelter.
Stand the wall up dry first and look at it from the height of the viewer's eyes, not from above. It is precisely in this position that you can tell how much area above the figures is needed. Run the boards so that their direction agrees with the structure you are depicting: on sheds and barns they tend to be vertical, on log buildings horizontal instead. Let the lower edge of the wall merge with the terrain or with the floor, because that is where the transition tends to be most visible. The maker's instructions give the specific procedure for gluing and any surface treatment.
The set suits rural scenes, workshops and farm buildings, and it works just as well as a background behind a vehicle or behind a small group of figures in a display case. It also comes into its own on small scenes on a base, where a single wall and a few paces of space in front of it are enough.
Figures, equipment and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
