Responsibility details are not available.
A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the German Panther medium tank in its first production form, the Ausf.D, from Meng in 1:35 scale. It is modern tooling with fine surface detail, complemented by photo-etched parts, turned metal parts and a decal sheet. The road wheels, the Schürzen side armor plates and the movable gun travel lock are among the features that lift this build above the ordinary standard.
The Panther Ausf.D was produced from roughly January to September 1943 and became Germany's answer to the Soviet medium tanks. It combined heavily sloped frontal armor, a long 75 mm gun with a high muzzle velocity and a new suspension with large interleaved road wheels. You can recognize the Ausf.D by the early details of the turret and the hull, among other things by the form of the commander's cupola. The tank made its debut in the fighting at Kursk.
On a tracked vehicle, finish the running gear and the lower hull first, and only then close the hull up. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Lay down a primer under the paint; an airbrush is ideal for the large surfaces of the Panther. For weathering, richer washes in the hollows and around the rivets work well, along with earth or dust pigments on the running gear and the fenders, which give the vehicle the realistic dirt of the battlefield.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
