A follow-up set for the half-track Sd.Kfz. 251 Ausf. C, 1:35

The second part of the Royal Model detail set for the armored personnel carrier in the Ausf. C version. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit; the same brand also offers a similar accessory for a model from another manufacturer, so it is worth checking which kit you have when choosing. The model of the carrier is not in the package.

The Ausf. C version and what came out of it

The Ausf. C represents the middle production stage, which ran from 1940 and became the most frequently seen form of the vehicle in the period when the war turned. It was on this hull that the greatest number of derived forms was built: command and signals cars, an ambulance conversion, a vehicle with an anti-tank gun instead of the shield at the machine gun, a flamethrower variant and a carrier for rocket frames, which the soldiers nicknamed the infantry Stuka. The chassis was derived from the Hanomag tractor and the armored hull was supplied by a different firm, which is why the shapes of the pressed parts differ slightly between individual production runs.

Work tips

First compare the parts with the plastic original and decide what is to be cut away; the plastic under an accessory has to be level, otherwise the seam shows through. Hold the small parts with smooth-jawed tweezers. Start the painting with a primer and deal with the weathering only after the varnish has dried, so that the wash runs only where it should.
