Smaller drums for oils and service fluids in 1:35 scale. The 1:35 Small fuel barrels set from the Italian maker Royal Model is an accessory for a scene, not a kit of a vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Drums of a smaller format suit a diorama wherever large containers would look out of proportion: on the porch of a workshop, under the tarpaulin of a truck, on a pile of material next to a wreck. Royal Model offers them as a separate accessory in 1:35.
Bulky drums belonged to the mass transport of gasoline and diesel. The smaller format, by contrast, was a service container: engine and gearbox oil, grease, antifreeze, kerosene for washing components, occasionally tar or paint. The difference was purely practical: two men could lift a drum like that onto a cargo bed without a ramp, and it could be turned around in an enclosed space. That is why it turned up with repair crews, with airfield ground units and in the yards of farmsteads where soldiers stopped for the night.
Containers of this kind almost never formed a uniform group. They were collected from elsewhere, of different ages and painted differently. Paint them inconsistently and play the surfaces off against each other: a matte film of oil on one, a chipped enamel finish on another, handprints around the closure. A small wooden pad or a rope wound around a hoop will give the corner a story.
The set is meant to be painted; paints, glue and a base are not included.
