Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The package contains several sprues of plastic parts, clear parts, photo-etched parts and a metal barrel; the enclosed decals allow the vehicle to be finished in a period form.
The BMP-1 was the first series-produced infantry fighting vehicle in the world, introduced into the Soviet army in the 1960s. It combined the mobility of a tracked carrier with the firepower of a light vehicle, as its tracked running gear, its amphibious capability and its low silhouette made it a revolutionary design in its day. In the turret it carried a short gun barrel and a launch rail for an anti-tank guided missile, complemented by a machine gun. The vehicle was deployed en masse with the armies of the Warsaw Pact and a number of other countries.
On tracked equipment it pays to assemble and, if you like, paint the running gear before closing the hull. Glue the plastic parts with a liquid model cement and attach the joints and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting, and spraying with an airbrush makes the tinting of panels easier. For a period look use washes into the recesses and pigments for mud and dust effects on the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
