This photo-etched metal set is a detail accessory which is not a model in its own right. It reproduces the 902V Tucha smoke grenade launcher system including its mounting rack, as carried by BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles. The set is intended for models of the BMP-1 in 1:35 scale and replaces the simplified plastic version with fine metal parts.
The smoke launchers form a prominent group of small parts on the turret of the vehicle. The photo-etched version allows fine tubes and brackets that cannot be captured faithfully in plastic. The set raises the realism of the turret and is a rewarding target for detailed work.
Bend the tubular parts patiently over a suitable roller or a piece of wire so that they keep a circular section. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the metal before painting and coat it with a base color for metal; a dark wash suits the depths of the launchers.
This is a metal detail accessory. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
