Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the German Tiger I heavy tank in the treatment of the early production series, related to the fighting at Kursk in 1943. The manufacturer lists it in two packages: the basic one and the richer one, designated as the upgraded version, which is precisely this item. The manufacturer does not state in the designation an exact breakdown of what the upgraded version contains on top.
The Tiger I was the first German heavy tank deployed in larger numbers. It carried a gun of 88 mm caliber derived from an antiaircraft weapon and frontal armor that most antitank weapons of the day did not punch through. It was powered by a V12 gasoline engine, and its running gear with interleaved road wheels gave a soft ride but was demanding to maintain and clogged up in mud and frost. At Kursk the Tigers went into the fighting in numbers that gave them the first opportunity to prove their superiority at long range, but it also became clear how many of them dropped out through breakdowns.
Assemble the running gear with its interleaved wheels in the order given by the instructions, as the last row otherwise cannot be fitted. Finish the inside of the hull and the running gear before you close the whole thing up. Fit the tracks only after the running gear has been painted and shape them while the glue has not dried. At the end, dust pigments on the running gear and a dark wash into the gaps come in useful. Anyone building a machine of the summer of 1943 should reckon with the typical pasty antimagnetic coating only if the particular machine really carried it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
