DSPIAE AT-FX02, a file in 600 and 1200 grit

This is a tool, not a kit. The double-sided file of the Chinese maker DSPIAE has a stainless steel body and a DLC coating over its whole surface, that is a hard carbon layer applied in a vacuum. Each side has a different grit: one 600, the other 1200. One tool thus covers two steps of sanding work and nothing has to be changed between them. This pair of grits is intended for finishing, not for removing material.

Use

• smoothing surfaces after a coarser file and after filler
• finishing the cut once a part has been separated from the sprue
• leveling small faces on plastic, resin and soft metal
• preparing the surface before the primer

Who it is for

For modelers who want a genuinely smooth surface on their smooth areas, because the primer will show up every scratch left by coarser sanding. If you are still removing material, a coarser pair of grits is more suitable; this version comes into play only after it. The DLC coating is meant to reduce the wear and clogging of the file. While working, draw the file in one direction and keep the pressure light, as a fine grit works more accurately when the material comes off in thin layers than when it is forced into the surface.

Keep the tool clean and clear a clogged surface with a brush. Sanding plastic and resin produces dust, so work with respiratory protection, and with resin always. Keep out of the reach of children.
