1:35 US infantry rifleman with canteen from Royal Model: a separate figure of a US Army rifleman of the Second World War for a diorama and for a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
The source of the subject is a rank-and-file infantryman of the American army of the Second World War, caught at the moment he reaches for his canteen. Royal Model of Italy offers him as a single figure in 1:35 size, that is in a size matching ordinary kits of tanks and trucks, so he can be worked into a finished scene without modification.
The basis of an American infantry company was the rifleman armed with the M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle, the first semi-automatic weapon introduced with line infantry on such a scale. The equipment included a steel helmet with an inner liner, a belt with ammunition pouches, a canteen in a canvas cover and a pack. From the autumn of 1944 a field jacket of sturdy cotton twill became widespread, replacing the older short jacket. Water was a rarity in the field, and that is why reaching for a canteen appears so often among modeling subjects.
Olive green cloth can be brought to life by not toning every surface the same: the sleeves lighter, the back noticeably darker. The helmet cover will take a coarser texture than the cloth of the uniform. The metal parts of the equipment were matte, so rather avoid pronounced sheen and rely on fine scuffing of the edges.
The package contains the figure itself, unassembled and without a finish. Paints and glue are not in it, unless stated otherwise.
