1:35 U.S. Infantry rifleman - WWII is a standalone resin figure of an American rifleman in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Unlike the resting poses of the same range, this casting captures a soldier in an active stance with his weapon in his hands. The figure is cast in polyurethane resin and is sold unassembled and without paints. It enters a scene as an individual, so it can be combined with any other figure of the same scale.
The rifleman was the basic building block of an American infantry company. A squad rested on the machine-gun crew and on individual soldiers with rifles, who advanced in bounds and covered one another. It is exactly this way of fighting that made recognizable figures of individual men in period photographs, because they moved dispersed and each took a different posture. Period shots therefore show individuals rather than a close formation, which is a valuable guide for a figure modeler looking for a believable pose.
The hands and the head tend to be cast separately on resin figures. After gluing, a visible seam remains at the neck and in the armpit, and a thin layer of putty and fine sandpaper will fill it. The weapon deserves attention of its own: the gun stock is painted in a warm brown shade, the metal parts in dark steel with a hint of sheen on the edges.
The casting is supplied without paints, glue and a base.
