A genre vignette in resin of a kind that rarely turns up among military figures. The Italian brand Royal Model has set an American soldier beside civilian residents and joined them with the most ordinary gesture of all, a drink poured together. The castings are polyurethane resin and come unassembled and unpainted.
The meeting of liberating troops with local people was among the strongest images of 1944 and 1945 in France as well as in Italy. Wine or spirits from a cellar were the first thing people offered, and photographers recorded such moments in numbers. On a diorama the scene suits a roadside, the gateway of a farm or a parked jeep; it explains at once where and why the vignette takes place, and sets it apart from hundreds of combat compositions.
Dry-fit the figures first and find the angles between them, because with a multi-figure composition that decides the result more than the quality of the casting does. Only then glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Separate the uniform from the civilian clothes by saturation: military cloth rather dusty and matte, civilian clothing more colorful and cleaner. Leave the faces for last, the whole story rests on them.
Glue, paints and a base for the scene are not included.
