A set of replacement wheels for a model of the German Kübelwagen Type 82 light off-road car in 1:35 scale. This is the early tire pattern in its second form, which differs from the later ones in the drawing of the tread. It is not a kit of the vehicle, but a replacement for the wheels from the box. The manufacturer lists the set as intended for the usual kits of this car.
A wheel is one of the most visible parts on a car model and at the same time the one on which the production technology shows most. A molded wheel has a mold seam running right around the tire, which is hard to remove without damaging the tread. Replacement wheels have no seam and are moreover cast with a hint of load, so that the model does not stand on tires as round as a cart wheel.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry. Cut the remnants left from production away with a fresh blade, level the area off and protect your breathing while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Do not paint the tire black: period rubber looks more faithful on a model in a dark gray shade, which lets the tread stand out. Paint the hub separately and fit the wheels only after the body has been painted.
