Voyager Model 1:35 Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen (Sd.Kfz.161/3) – photo-etched set

This is a photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale for a model of the German Sd.Kfz.161/3 anti-aircraft vehicle, nicknamed the Möbelwagen. It is not a kit in its own right but a set of thin metal parts that replaces and adds to the detail of the basic plastic model of the 3.7 cm Flak on the Panzer IV chassis. It typically holds the folding side plates of the hull, grilles, small grab handles and features of the gun mount that cannot be made in plastic to the right thickness.

The real subject

The Möbelwagen was a German self-propelled anti-aircraft gun of the closing stage of the Second World War. On the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank it carried a 3.7 cm automatic gun protected by tall folding armor side plates, which were let down to the horizontal before firing. The vehicle was meant to protect armored units from low-flying aircraft.

Fitting and painting

Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a cutting mat, bend them on a bender or along a ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or two-part epoxy. Before painting we recommend degreasing the metal and spraying it with primer so that the paint holds. Thanks to the photo-etch, the folding side plates can also be built in the open position.
