An injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier version of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The box contains six examples of the same aircraft, so it can populate the whole flight deck and the hangar of a 1:350 aircraft carrier model. Each aircraft is made up of just a few parts, so the whole set can be built in a single evening.
The Bf 109T was the carrier variant of the best-known German fighter of the Second World War. It differed from the land-based version in its increased wingspan, for a shorter takeoff and landing, and in its equipment for carrier operations. Because the aircraft carrier it was intended for was never completed, the finished machines served from land bases, often from short, makeshift airfields, where their ability to take off from a small runway came in useful.
Cut the parts off with nippers and sand the remains of the sprue gates down with fine abrasive rather than a knife, as in this scale a wingtip is easily lopped off. Glue with thin cement for plastic applied by capillary action with a fine brush. Painting is quickest done in a batch: all six at once on double-sided tape, first the lighter underside, then the darker upper surfaces. Only suggest the weathering, as a heavy wash on a model this small looks overdone.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
