A set of small injection-molded plastic Blackburn Skua carrier aircraft in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. It is intended for populating the deck of a model of a British aircraft carrier of the Second World War era, and in this small scale it gives a scene both scale and life. It is not a large standalone aircraft model but a set of miniature aircraft for ship modelers. The package holds several examples of the same type, so you can populate the deck with a whole flight.
The Blackburn Skua was a British carrier aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm, serving as a dive bomber as well as a fighter. It was one of the first all-metal carrier monoplanes of the Royal Navy. The Skua went down in history at the beginning of the Second World War during operations off the Norwegian coast, among other things in the sinking of a warship by a dive-bomber attack.
The parts are very small — separate them carefully with a sharp knife and clean them up only lightly. It pays to paint in small batches, or to spray the base color while they are still on the sprue. Suggest the markings and the cockpit with a fine brush; a softener will make the small decals easier. Set the finished aircraft onto the deck and unify them with light weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
