A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for the model of the Japanese carrier dive bomber Aichi D3A1, known under the Allied designation Val.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Aichi D3A1 was a carrier dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy. You recognize it by its fixed landing gear with spatted wheels and by the wing with its markedly rounded tips. The crew consisted of two men sitting one behind the other under long glazing. The Allies used the code designation Val for this type, and it took hold in modeling literature as well. The fixed landing gear and the long canopy give the model many places where a fine metal part comes into its own.
It is a set of photo-etched metal parts, as its listing among photo-etched accessories shows. The pieces are etched into thin sheet, held in a carrier fret and separated from it before use. Metal offers a thickness that a plastic part cannot reach. The exact composition of the fret and the placement of the parts are given in the enclosed instructions.
Separate the pieces with a sharp blade on a firm surface and handle them with fine-tipped tweezers. Bend them along the marked grooves and hold them along the whole length of the fold, otherwise the edge will ripple. Use cyanoacrylate glue in a small amount to join them. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and go over it with a thin base coat.
The set is meant for modelers who build this type and want to take the detail beyond the level of the plastic parts. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
