AN/ALQ-87 ECM pods, early type (2 pieces) are a 3D-printed resin accessory in 1:48 scale for models of American combat aircraft of the Vietnam War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set contains two 3D-printed resin replicas of AN/ALQ-87 jamming pods in the early version. It is not an aircraft model but an external accessory intended to be hung under machines such as the F-100, F-101, F-105, F-111 and F-4. The parts are printed with fine surface detail and sharp edges.
The AN/ALQ-87 was an American electronic warfare pod which, during deployment in Southeast Asia, actively jammed the guidance radars of air defenses. Pilots carried it on the outer pylons to make targeting by surface-to-air missiles harder. The early version differs from the later one in shape and external details.
First wash the parts free of uncured resin residue, carefully separate the print supports and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Before painting we recommend a base of primer; the metallic shades and the fine offset of the lettering will stand out after a gentle emphasis of the shadows.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base model. Glue, paints and the host kit are not included in the package.
