The Arado Ar 234 Blitz was among the first jet aircraft to see combat service. The Luftwaffe used it mainly for reconnaissance over Allied territory, where its speed let it get away for a long time. Production machines rested on nose landing gear, and the wheels are one of the few details that everyone looks at on a finished model.
Landing gear wheels for an Ar 234 model in 1:48 scale. They replace the parts from the kit and bring a more accurate tire shape and more clearly visible hub detail. The parts are not polystyrene, so they are joined with super glue and not with ordinary modeling cement for plastic.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part, level the remainder with fine abrasive paper and check as you go that the mating surface stays flat. Then wash the parts and degrease them. Spray the tire first and mask the hub with a circular mask, or paint it in with a brush. In a larger scale even a gentle emphasis of the surface with dry pigment comes out well.
The set is intended for a modeler who is building the Ar 234 in 1:48 scale and wants to improve the landing gear without modifying the fuselage or the bays. Dry-fit the seating of the wheels so that the model stands level once they are glued in and both main wheels touch the surface equally.
The package holds the stated parts only. The model, paints, glue and masking material are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
