The CBU-89 GATOR is an American cluster bomb that differs fundamentally from ordinary fragmentation munitions in its task: instead of hitting the target directly, it scatters mines over it and establishes a minefield in a place ground units cannot reach. It therefore carries antitank and antipersonnel mines at the same time, so that the mined strip could not easily be crossed on foot or by vehicle. The body is a smooth cylindrical casing that opens in flight and spills its load.
In the package are four bombs in 1:48 scale. The four suit symmetrical hanging under a pair of racks exactly, so the model gets a combat-looking loadout rather than just one lone piece. The name gives the range of carriers: the A-10, F-15E, F-16, B-52, B-1B and B-2. Whether racks or multiple ejector racks belong with the set is stated by the manufacturer.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the rest down; on a smooth cylinder every step shows, so do not skimp on the sanding and finish it with fine paper. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Spray the bombs away from the model, add the markings and only then hang them, because a brush and an airbrush nozzle maneuver awkwardly among munitions already hung. The recommended glue is to be found in the manufacturer's instructions.
