A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Douglas SBD-1 Dauntless carrier-based dive bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was an American carrier-based dive bomber. It plunged into the attack in a steep dive and its speed was held back by the perforated dive brakes on the wing, which are its most conspicuous recognition feature. The SBD-1 was the first production version of the type, that is the version from the beginning of its service, before the later changes to armament and equipment.
These are photo-etched parts made of thin metal sheet intended for a model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch suits everywhere the real part is thin and a plastic equivalent looks coarse: grilles, flat surfaces, loops, fittings and small interior equipment. The difference shows above all on the edges and in the places where you can look inside the model.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, say on glass or on a ceramic tile. Nippers will bend the edge, a blade will leave it straight. Make the bends in a bending tool, or press the part down with a ruler and lift it with a blade along its whole length at once. Degrease the metal before bonding and painting, or the paint will peel. Bond with cyanoacrylate glue, which you apply with a pin or a wire to the place on the model, not to the part itself. Lay the small parts out beforehand on a light surface from which tweezers will pick them up easily.
A set of photo-etched parts is supplied. The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
