An injection-molded plastic model of the American supersonic fighter-bomber North American F-100D Super Sabre in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter (item number 02839). The kit, with roughly 168 parts, is molded in gray plastic, supplemented with clear parts for the cockpit, and features finely engraved panel lines without raised seams. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The F-100 Super Sabre was the first production US Air Force fighter capable of supersonic speed in level flight and became the first of the so-called Century Series. The F-100D version was the most numerous variant — a dedicated fighter-bomber with a fixed wing, an autopilot, and expanded armament for ground-attack missions. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney J57 afterburning jet engine. The aircraft saw significant use especially over Vietnam and also served with a number of allied air forces.
We recommend working with thin liquid cement and test-fitting the fuselage with its large intake before gluing. Mask the cockpit and clear parts with your own masking tape. Many F-100D aircraft wore a natural-metal finish, later ones in Southeast Asia the typical three-tone camouflage. For the metal finish, a quality primer and metallic paints applied in different shades to distinguish panels pay off. Highlight the panel lines with a fine wash effect and finish with a matte varnish to unify the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
