An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:48 scale from Academy. The box holds injection-molded plastic, clear parts for the canopy and a decal sheet for naval markings.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat supersonic carrier fighter of the US Navy with a characteristic variable-geometry wing, that is swing wings. The F-14A version was the first production variant; among its armament it carried long-range missiles and it filled the role of defending carrier battle groups. Its crew consisted of a pilot and a weapons systems operator.
Pay attention to the fit of the fuselage and to the seating of the swing wings so that they stay movable. Glue with cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints. Apply a primer before painting with an airbrush; for the typical naval schemes, gray camouflage with panel accentuation and careful work with the decals between two coats of varnish are suitable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
