This product is a precisely turned metal barrel of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 tank gun in its early form, in 1:48 scale. It is not a tank kit in itself but an accessory that replaces the plastic barrel in a model of the German Tiger I heavy tank. The maker is the Polish brand Aber.
The 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 gun was the main armament of the Tiger I and one of the most feared tank weapons of the Second World War. The early form was marked by a double-baffle muzzle brake of a particular shape; this barrel therefore matches the earlier production runs of the Tiger I.
A metal barrel has a perfectly circular section with none of the mold seams that have to be sanded off plastic parts. The finely made muzzle brake and the faithful shape raise the realism of a model markedly. The barrel is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer.
This is a metal accessory, not a tank model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
