1:48 German tanker in winter dress - WWII, that is a figure of a German tanker in winter clothing, cast in resin.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Wehrmacht tanker in winter dress fills out an Eastern Front scene even where the work is done in the smaller scale. Royal Model casts this subject in polyurethane resin and offers it in several sizes at once; this item is the 1:48 version. The box holds the casting itself, without paints.
After the harsh winter of 1941 the German army introduced a quilted reversible outfit: one side white for camouflage in snow, the other in gray-green or in the later camouflage print. Tank crews put it on over their service coveralls, and felt or fur-lined boots and a cap with ear flaps went with it. The combination of a bulky jacket and a tanker cap makes the figure immediately readable.
A white surface easily merges into one flat patch in a small scale, so build it up from a gray-blue undercoat and add pure white only on the tops of the folds. Suggest the soiling with a thin brown tone along the hems and at the waist. Pick out small items such as goggles or straps with a dark line, otherwise they disappear at this size. Painting itself is preceded by washing the casting and laying down a primer, because bare resin repels paint.
