Three sets of markings for the Hawker Hurricane Mk I of Polish squadrons of the RAF from the fall of 1940, including the machine of Witold Urbanowicz, in 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the fall of 1940 the defense of the British Isles was decided by fewer machines than the importance of that battle would suggest, and the Hawker Hurricane Mk I was their most numerous type. This set concentrates on a very narrow slice: on the aircraft that Polish airmen flew in the decisive weeks from the bases at Northolt and Ternhill. Three subjects are therefore few, but each of them has a name and a date.
The first is the machine with the fuselage code RF-J and the serial V6665 of No. 303 Squadron RAF, in which Flight Lieutenant J. A. Kent flew from Northolt in September 1940. The second subject is the Hurricane RF-F with the serial V6684 of the same squadron, linked with the squadron commander Witold Urbanowicz, again from September 1940. The third variant belongs to No. 306 Squadron RAF, carries the code UZ-V and the serial V7118 and captures November 1940 at the base of Ternhill.
The Hurricane has a fabric-covered rear fuselage on which the ribs of the frame show through under the paint. A decal of the code letters passes over those ribs and without thorough softening it will wrinkle on them. Apply it one letter at a time therefore, and between them let the film work for a while. The model of the aircraft and the paints have to be bought separately.
