An injection-molded plastic kit of the German all-metal Junkers F13 transport monoplane in 1:48 scale from MiniArt. This variant captures a machine of the mid production batch in military service. The package contains parts corresponding to the fuselage and tail surfaces of the mid production, a fully rendered inline engine and photo-etched metal for fine detail; check the particular contents against the manufacturer's part number of this item.
The Junkers F13 first flew in 1919 and became one of the first all-metal transport aircraft in the world. Its characteristic corrugated duralumin structure and cantilever low-wing layout were ahead of their time. Originally a civil aircraft for carrying passengers, during the 1920s and 1930s it entered the service of a number of countries, where it also performed military duties. It was powered by a Junkers L-5 inline six-cylinder engine. The real subject was produced for a whole decade in hundreds of examples.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the joints clean. Attach the etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The characteristic corrugated duralumin surface comes out well with metallic shades or polished metallics; after applying a gloss coat and the decals, accent the corrugations with a fine wash. Paint the interior and the engine before closing the fuselage so that the detail stands out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
