A set of pre-colored photo-etched seat belts of steel (STEEL) for refining the cockpit of the two-seat F-104DJ trainer Starfighter, 1:48 scale. The steel version has finely applied color printing and holds the shape of its bends better than brass, so the belts follow the seat faithfully. The early designation refers to the early form of the belts. It is not an aircraft model but a cockpit accessory.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was an American supersonic fighter and ground-attack aircraft. The F-104DJ version was the two-seat trainer used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The slim fuselage and thin trapezoidal wing earned the machine the nickname of a missile with a pilot.
Separate the belts carefully, assemble the individual segments according to the instructions and attach them with super glue or with glue for photo-etch. A light coat of flat varnish over the color printing is enough to even it out. Steel belts shape well over the edge of a pair of tweezers.
