Four Mark 82 bombs with the BSU-49 tail assembly, that is with an inflatable retarding element, in 1:48 scale. The set is an accessory to an airplane model, not a kit. Its value lies in the fact that you will practically not find this variant of the tail in the kits: it differs in the shape and the volume of the rear end from mechanical retarding fins, so it cannot be made out of an ordinary bomb from the box even by modification. Anyone building a particular load with this type has no other route than an accessory set.
The BSU-49 is a tail assembly in which the function of the retarding element after release is performed by an inflated bag instead of metal plates that open out. The purpose is the same as with the mechanical solution, that is to slow the bomb down so that the aircraft can attack from low altitude and has time to get away. On a bomb hanging before release the rear end is compact, and that is exactly what the model renders.
With sanding resin there is one safety rule that is worth keeping even with four small parts: always sand wet. Dry resin dust is fine, it stays in the airways and has no business being there. A little dish of water, a piece of fine paper and rinsing as you go solve the problem. After sanding, wash the part and let it dry, otherwise the remains of the slurry will show through under the paint. Cut the remains of the casting block or the print supports off with a saw, not with nippers. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is an accessory, not a kit. It is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
