An injection-molded plastic kit of the German twin-engine heavy fighter Messerschmitt Me 410B-2/U4 in 1:48 scale from Meng. The model is marked by modern tooling with finely engraved panel lines, a well-worked cockpit and clear canopy parts. The U4 version carried a massive 50 mm cannon that is characteristic of this variant.
The Me 410 Hornisse (hornet) was a German twin-engine heavy fighter and fast bomber of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War and the successor to the Me 210. The B-2/U4 variant was rearmed to destroy Allied bombers: a single heavy 50 mm BK 5 cannon was fitted in the fuselage, able to hit a target from a greater distance beyond the reach of defensive fire. The machine also had remotely controlled defensive barbettes on the sides of the fuselage.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. It pays to assemble and paint the cockpit first and only then close the fuselage. Use a primer before painting. Protect the canopy glazing with masking tape and paint the frames separately. An airbrush suits the period German camouflage; the final patina comes from a wash and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
