1:48 MH-60L - GAU-17A (M134 Minigun) weapon set (2 pcs) (3D Printed) is a printed set of two rotary machine guns with their mounts for a model of the helicopter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set made by 3D printing that brings two rotary machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber in the form used on the side stations of helicopters of the Black Hawk family, in 1:48 scale. Printing can manage the barrel cluster, the drive and the mount to a fineness that is out of reach in injection-molded plastic, because these are circular and thin elements with no room for a parting line. The set is not a model of the helicopter; it is an addition to an existing kit.
The M134 rotary machine gun, designated GAU-17 in its aircraft form, has six barrels in a cluster spun by an electric motor. That gives it a very high rate of fire and keeps the individual barrels from overheating. It is not a self-powered weapon of any kind; the whole cycle depends on an external drive. On helicopters of the Black Hawk family it is mounted in the side doors and serves to suppress fire on the approach to a landing site. The MH-60L is the version intended for special operations.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Snip them off close to the part and level the face with a scalpel; pliers would snap the barrel cluster. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. Paint the weapon in a dark metallic shade and bring it out with a dry brush, so that the barrel cluster and the layout of the mount stand out.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
