1:48 Mi-8 MT / Mi-17 Hip - Pylons is a resin set of side weapon pylons for a model of the transport helicopter. It is an addition, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of side pylons for a model of the Soviet Mi-8 MT transport helicopter and its export counterpart the Mi-17 in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. On the real machine the pylons are fixed along the sides of the fuselage and carry rocket pods, bombs or auxiliary fuel tanks. The casting replaces the plastic parts with a more accurate shape and legible detail on the struts and attachments. It is not a model of the helicopter; it is an addition.
The Mi-8 and its more powerful version the Mi-8 MT, known for export as the Mi-17, are among the most widespread helicopters in history. Originally a transport machine, it can be armed precisely by means of these side pylons, which turns it into an armed transport able to suppress fire at the landing site. The range of armament differs greatly between operators and changes with the task, which is why the pylons are often the first thing added to a model.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the face with abrasive paper, protecting your breathing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. Fit the pylons dry and check that they are at the same height on both sides and sit at the same angle to the fuselage.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
