About product

P-38 Lightning seatbelts 1:48 (HGW)

This accessory from HGW is not a model but a set of seatbelts for the cockpit. Straps of a material that faithfully imitates textile are completed by photo-etched buckles. The belts are fully functional, resist ordinary non-aggressive modeling products and look far more realistic than the plastic or photo-etched belts from a kit.

The real subject

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter of the Second World War with its characteristic twin-boom layout and a central pilot's nacelle. It served in the Pacific as well as over Europe as a fighter, a fighter-bomber and a reconnaissance aircraft. Realistic belts are among the details that noticeably bring a 1:48 cockpit to life.

Building and painting tips

Shape the belts with your fingers or with tweezers so that they hang naturally. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The buckles can be toned with metallic shades; match the straps to the period color of American belts.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers building a P-38 cockpit in 1:48 scale
  • Collectors of American Second World War fighters
  • Builders who want a realistic, functional look to the belts
  • Beginners and advanced modelers alike - fitting is easier than with purely photo-etched belts

This is a cockpit accessory. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
