This product is not a model of an aircraft but a detail accessory set of the Space range. Space combines 3D decals (elements with real three-dimensional relief) and fine steel photo-etch. This set is aimed at the exterior of the PBY-5A Catalina flying boat model in 1:48 scale and adds external details with a realistic look without any need for laborious cutting into the plastic. Dimensionally it is based on the Eduard or Revell kit.
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was a well-known American flying boat and patrol aircraft of the Second World War. The PBY-5A version was the amphibious one, fitted with retractable landing gear. The large fuselage and wing offer a big area on which external details come into their own.
Do not immerse the 3D decals in water: moisten only the backing paper, lift the decal off with tweezers and seat it with white PVA glue on a smooth surface prepared with a clear coat, then let it dry well. Leave the decal softener out, as it would eat into the printed resin. Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Proceed in accordance with the assembly diagram of the set.
An accessory set. It contains no model and no paints; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
