An injection-molded plastic model of the British single-seat fighter biplane Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.12b of the First World War in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian brand Roden. The model captures the typical period wood-and-fabric structure with interplane struts and offers a clear part for the windscreen as well as decals for several machines.
The B.E.12b was a British single-seat aircraft from the end of the First World War, used above all for the night defense of Britain against German bombers. It was based on the two-seat B.E.2 reconnaissance type but had only one seat and a more powerful engine. In the summer of 1918 it served to intercept raids over London and its surroundings, and once the raids ended it moved to coastal patrols.
Clean up the small parts from this early tooling and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic; the thin parts, the struts and the braces, can be strengthened with cyanoacrylate glue. On a biplane the symmetrical setting of the interplane struts and the subsequent bracing wires are the key - make them from stretched sprue or an elastic thread according to the enclosed diagram. Bring the fabric surfaces to life with fine accentuation of the ribs and with shading.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
