U-Boot IX, diesel engine section, 1:72: a CMK resin detail set for a faithful rendering of the engine room of a Type IX submarine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail set from CMK, not a submarine model. The set renders the engine room with its pair of large diesel engines, the piping, the controls and the deck plating, meaning the compartment that drove the boat on the surface and charged the batteries.
The Type IX had classic diesel-electric propulsion: on the surface the boat was driven by powerful diesels, below the surface by electric motors fed from the accumulators. The roomy engine room with its pair of diesels was one of the most complex and technically most interesting parts of the boat.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, wash and degrease them. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue. Metallic shades, greasy washes and fine oil traces on the machinery will give the engine room a realistic, well-used look.
This is an aftermarket resin accessory, not a submarine model. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
