This item is a detail accessory for modelers - a 3D-printed replacement for the exhaust stubs of the Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model or a kit: you will not find a fuselage, wings or a canopy in the package. The set is there to replace the exhausts from the original kit and give the finished model sharp, realistic detail in the very place that everybody notices first on a Typhoon.

The maker is the Polish brand Hobby 2000, and according to the manufacturer the accessory is intended for Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 kits in 1:48 scale. 3D printing makes it possible to print the exhausts with open, hollowed mouths and with thin walls, which is practically impossible in injection-molded plastic - plastic parts tend to have the mouths blanked off and the edges thick.

Use

• A replacement for the exhaust stubs on a Typhoon Mk. IB model in 1:48 scale.
• Separate the parts carefully from the print supports with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw and sand the support stubs away with fine sandpaper.
• Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry thoroughly.
• They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy - cement for plastic does not work on 3D prints.
• Painting: a dark metallic shade as the base, the mouths darkened with a sooty wash, and rusty brown and burnt tones suggested on the metal.

For modelers building the Typhoon Mk. IB in 1:48 scale who want to raise the level of the model noticeably with one simple and quick change. Working with 3D prints takes a little feel and a sharp tool; otherwise the fitting is undemanding and within reach of a moderately advanced modeler.
