The 1:72 metal 7.5 cm KwK 44/1 L/70 barrel for the Panther Ausf.F is a precisely turned brass replacement for the plastic barrel from Aber. It is not a model but a refining accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel from Aber in 1:72 scale, intended as a replacement for the plastic barrel on models of the Panther tank in the Ausf.F version. This is not a vehicle kit but an accurate refining accessory. The part is machined from brass, it has a perfectly round profile, the correct taper toward the tip and a cleanly executed muzzle, which plastic can hardly capture at this scale.
The 7.5 cm KwK 44/1 L/70 was a long gun intended for the late Panther Ausf.F version with the narrower turret, the so-called Schmalturm. In fact the vehicle never reached series production and remained at the stage of prototypes and hulks at the end of the Second World War. Ballistically it followed on from the proven 75mm gun of the KwK 42 family and ranked among the most powerful anti-tank guns of its caliber.
Cut off the original plastic barrel and clean up the seat, then glue the metal part in with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a base coat, so that the shade holds well. A metal barrel also gives the model real weight and resistance to bowing.
This is a refining accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
