HäT 1:72 Prussian infantry of the Seven Years War, in action

A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from HäT. The box holds one hundred sixty parts that build into forty figures in five poses. The high part count comes from the headgear being separate: the box holds tricorn hats, fusilier caps and grenadier caps, so you choose the type of unit yourself. The plastic is unpainted.

The real subject

The action poses catch the infantry in the act of firing and reloading, the very work on which Prussian superiority rested. The Prussians drilled loading so hard that they could fire noticeably more rounds a minute than their opponents, and in closed lines that advantage decided the issue. An iron ramrod and uniform drill were among the measures that made such speed possible.

Building and painting tips

Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. Clean the flash off the hats before gluing, because once they are in place you cannot reach it. Sort the headgear by the units you plan to build and set it with tweezers and CA glue. Lay the firing line out in a gentle curve; the formation looks livelier that way than in a perfect row.
