Figures of aircraft mechanics with a Red Top missile on a transport trolley in 1:72 scale. They will bring an airfield scene with British jet fighters to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Red Top was a British air-to-air guided missile with infrared homing, that is a weapon that finds its target by heat. It entered service in the 1960s as the more capable successor to the earlier Firestreak missile, and it was carried by the English Electric Lightning and de Havilland Sea Vixen fighters. The missiles were brought up to the aircraft on low transport trolleys and the ground personnel lifted them from there onto the pylons under the wing or on the sides of the fuselage. It is precisely this part of operations that is missing most often in display cases, even though it belonged to a squadron as naturally as a takeoff itself.
Figures of ground personnel in two pieces, a Red Top missile and a transport trolley. The figures are modeled in a working stance at the trolley, so the scene holds together even without further accessories and only needs a piece of airfield concrete to go with it.
Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder, so that the edges of the coveralls and of the face are preserved. Wash and degrease the figures before painting, otherwise the paint will hold poorly on the smooth surface. Choose the glue to match the material of the parts; the particular procedure is in the manufacturer's instructions. Faces in this scale will do with a base skin shade, a dark wash and a gentle lightening on the forehead and the cheekbones.
For modelers of British jet aircraft who want to build an airfield scene instead of a solitary model. The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
