An accessory set of four 3D-printed British aircraft bombs in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but external stores for one. These are high-explosive general-purpose bombs in the low-drag version, that is with a smooth aerodynamic body and a short tail unit, which fast aircraft carry better than the older angular stores.
The thousand-pound bomb belongs to the classic British aircraft armament of the postwar period. The low-drag version came about because, with the arrival of jet aircraft, the drag of external stores began to eat noticeably into range and speed alike. A smooth body and a close-fitting tail unit eased that problem. The same body was also used as the basis for guided versions, to which a guidance head was added.
Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the remainder down; do not snap them. The printed material is hard and brittle, so work without pressure. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and lay down a primer. British munitions carried conspicuous colored bands, which come out best from masking tape or from thin decals.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
