A box of thirty Spanish conquistadors, 1:72 scale. MARS Model captures here the expeditions to the New World at the beginning of the sixteenth century.
Responsibility details are not available.
Plastic figures in 1:72 scale devoted to the Spanish conquistadors, thirty pieces in the box according to the designation. The Ukrainian brand MARS Model uses this set to complement its set of Aztec warriors, so you can build both sides of one of the most dramatic encounters of the early modern age. The castings come in the color of the plastic and are meant to be painted.
The expeditions to the Americas were not made up of a standing royal army but of contracted companies of veterans from the fighting on the Iberian Peninsula and in Italy. They wore a cuirass and a morion or cabasset helmet and fought with a sword and a round shield, a long pike, a crossbow and a heavy arquebus rested on a forked stand. It was precisely the combination of steel armor, firearms and horses that decided encounters in which they were outnumbered many times over. The set matches the period of Hernan Cortes's expeditions to Mexico and Francisco Pizarro's to Peru.
The steel parts come out best when a dark base is laid under the metallic shade and the edges are only picked out at the very end with a lighter metal; polished armor then does not look flat. Quilted doublets and breeches carried earthy and rusty tones, while banners and sashes can take a rich red. Finish the beards and the tanned skin with a glaze.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints and glue do not belong in the package, unless stated otherwise.
