An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy fighter Dornier Do 335 Pfeil in 1:72 scale. It is a new Hobby Boss tool from the line of simplified, quick-build models. Thanks to slide-mold technology the upper fuselage and the wing with the lower fuselage are done as large single-piece assemblies, which speeds the build up considerably. The model carries markings for the surviving example of the type. Take the exact contents and parts count from the actual box.
The Do 335 was among the fastest piston aircraft of the Luftwaffe. Its peculiarity was the tandem arrangement of two engines on the fuselage axis — one drove a tractor propeller at the front, the other a pusher propeller at the rear. This solution reduced drag compared with a conventional twin-engine layout and gave the aircraft a high speed. A cruciform tail and an ejection seat were part of the design. The machine practically never saw combat and only a small number were built.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, which flows into the joints by capillary action. Apply a primer before painting; the German camouflage mottling and the pattern on the wing undersides are best sprayed with an airbrush. Masking tape or masks make the frames of the extensive canopy glazing easier. A wash picks out the panel lines and a final matte clear coat evens out the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
